After a long day of dancing on July 29, you’ll be glad for the chance to take a break and admire some of our phenomenal local dance talent!
This year we had so much interest from volunteer performers that we added “pop-up lunchtime performances” at our main venue. Head over to the Ethical Society Building, 1906 Rittenhouse Square, at noon for a FREE 20-minute variety show featuring Afro-Cuban, modern, classical Indian dance and more. Bring your lunch and meet fellow dance enthusiasts at this informal midday break.
After more participatory workshops throughout the afternoon, we’ll top off the night with our hallmark evening showcase featuring performances by an eclectic mix of student groups, instructors and professional dancers.
This variety show started as a kind of interlude to highlight our volunteer instructors. But interest from student groups and other performers has grown steadily over the years, turning this showcase into a true capstone of our amazing community event. We’ll have a full 90-minute show this summer, featuring everything from ballet to bellydance.

The showcase will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. at the Ethical Society Building. Because our venue unfortunately does not have theater seating, there will be a limited number of chairs reserved for those who need them the most.
Please note that while the daytime Dance Day workshops remain free, there is a $5 requested donation starting at 5 p.m. for entry to the evening events and showcase, which includes post-show refreshments.
